Vanilla Extract

Ingredients

  • 1 Vanilla Bean, Split Lengthwise
  • ¾ Cup Brandy or Spiced Rum

Directions

  1. Place the vanilla bean in the jar and pour the brandy over it. If the bean is not immersed in the brandy, you may cut the bean into pieces.
  2. Cover with a tight lid and let sit undisturbed for one month.
  3. Remove the bean (save it for vanilla sugar) and strain the liquid.
  4. Return the liquid to the glass jar.
